 South African Regulator Fines SBI’s South Africa Branch

  • The Prudential Authority of the South African Reserve Bank has fined the State Bank of India’s South Africa branch 10 million rand (₹4.5 crore) for not complying with specific provisions of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act 38 of 2001 (FIC Act).
  • Of the total fine, 5.50 million rand is payable immediately and has already been paid, while 4.50 million rand is suspended, conditional upon compliance within 36 months.
